Since first opening their doors in September of 2012, the interiors and lifestyle store, steve mckenzie’s has grown to include custom textiles, fine art, and full-scale interior design business, as well as the sole Grange furniture representative for the Southeast, along with O & G Studio, The Old Wood Co., and many boutique fabric lines too. Of course, you’ll find a delightful curation of tabletop, gifts, stationery, jewelry and more. steve mckenzie’s showroom, located at 999 Brady Avenue NW. Atlanta, boasts a fabulous art studio, where store co-owner (along with wife, Jill) and namesake, Steve McKenzie, continues his passion, creating unique fine art. In addition to the art studio, this larger showroom also houses McKenzie Interior Design where the Steve and the team work on residential and commercial spaces. Steve and Jill, along with shop dog, Duke, welcome shoppers and clients alike to their location, with regular business hours Monday-Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. Add a special ingredient to this versatile icing A couple of bowls, your trusty hand mixer, and fresh mint Perfect for sharing with friends
3 cups cake flour (we really did sift the flour per the instructions)3 cups sugar1 c. sour cream1 c. butter, softened1/4 tsp. baking soda1 tsp. vanilla6 eggs, separated (You will beat the egg whites into stiff peaks)
Sift flour; add soda and sift again. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly, and add egg yolks, one at a time. Add flour and sour cream alternately. Add stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in a greased and well-floured angel food cake pan or bundt pan. Bake at 300 degrees F for 1.5 hours.
Let cool 10 minutes, then flip on a cooling rack to finish cooling.

In the afternoon class, from 2pm – 3:30pm, you’ll make the famous Parris magnolia Bowtie swag. Perfect for the table, above a piece of art, or as a gift to mom on Mother’s Day. Tickets are $50 and available here.
Did you know these magnolia pieces will last for up to a year, sometimes longer?! That means you will enjoy them for all the seasons. Maybe you’ll tuck some fresh seasonal flowers in amongst those velvety leaves, or a bit of sparkly ribbon for Halloween and Christmas. The possibilities are endless!

Let’s start with a gorgeous Atlanta sunset. Then add an array of colorful Mottahedeh china, and really use it for food, flowers, holding cutlery, and more. Let’s use the good stuff!
Use your low dishes for nuts and olives Tobacco Leaf on the bar Pop a grocery store orchid in a cachepot for instant room refresh.
Add some height and soothing candlelight on the buffet table. Steve swears by a variety of candle heights for visual interest and light.

Keep the food simple – finger foods and here’s a tip, many larger groceries, like Whole Foods offer catering menus. Don’t forget another of our favorite’s, Aldi’s, for cheeses and charcuterie meats, nuts, and sweets.

Next up is the venerable NMP Gift Show (Northside Methodist Preschool), held every November in Atlanta featuring a curated selection of original art and gifts from talented local artists. Artist and interior designer, Steve McKenzie will be there for the third year in a row with his fine art prints, original art, greeting cards, pillows and home decor featuring his iconic fabrics. Mark your calendar for opening night Nov. 8th, Nov. 9th and 10th. Admission is only $5 with proceeds benefitting the preschool scholarship fund.
